Chamomile (Gan Ju Hua)

Chamomile is a general name for plants belonging to the daisy family. It is found in southern and Eastern Europe.

The two most commonly found varieties for medicinal use are German chamomile (matricaria chamomilla) and Roman chamomile (chamaemelum nobile). Many people know the internal use of chamomile in the form of a tea. This is used to treat digestive issues and sleep disturbances[1].

Some of the studies using chamomile tea claim potent antiinflammatory action, some antimutagenic and cholesterol lowering activities, as well as antispasmotic and anxiolytic effects[2]. Other research shows that chamomile exerts selective does-dependent cytotoxic action against target cancer cells[3].

Externally, chamomile has terpenes with antioxidative, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic properties[4]. Also the essential oil of chamomile has shown therapeutic potential against breast cancer cells[5].

Battle Balm® uses Certified Organic Chamomile as one of its 20 key ingredients. Gan ju hua is just one of the many proven herbal compounds used to prevent rheumatic conditions, relax muscle spasms, and reduce pain so you can stay healthy and minimize time away from your training!
