1. Shower first. Seriously! Showering beforehand will open pores and remove barrier dirt & oil that can reduce Battle Balm's pain punching power!
2. Stubborn joint pain? Apply Battle Balm to the joint AND the muscles that control the joint! They talk to each other, so get them on the same page with Battle Balm!
3. Wrap that rascal! Apply Battle Balm and use a compression bandage on the painful area. This provides support & stability which sends signals to the brain that your body is safe. Your nerves will begin to CTFO or chill the freak out!
4. Massage the muscles! If the joint hurts, massage the muscles that move the joints. Even a little massage helps reset muscular function and reminds your body that it is loved!
5. Movement is medicine. Consider combination therapies, such as yoga, tai chi, physical therapy, functional movement patterns, etc. to reintegrate the painful part back into the rest of your awesome body! Need more info?

After just over 20 years of BJJ and lifting, I've got quite a few nagging injuries (left hip labrum tear, c4-c5 herniation, multiple surgeries on my right shoulder, etc) and I started climbing 2 years ago as well which comes with it's own set of issues (elbows, forearms and fingers). How do I use Battle Balm®?
Battle Balm® is a topical balm. It works only when applied to the skin.
There are 3 techniques that people have when using topicals:
- Set & Forget - Apply Battle Balm® to target area and let it work.
- Rub it In - Massage Battle Balm® into the target area to help circulate blood and improve penetration of the balm.
- Hot/Cold - Apply Battle Balm® to target area using either of the above two techniques and then apply a heating pad or ice pack.
How quickly does Battle Balm® work?
Our skin is a semi-permeable membrane. Absorption of Battle Balm® depends on multiple factors.
For the fastest absorption, you'll probably want clean skin with open pores...like right after you shower and dry off!
In most cases, though, Battle Balm® should give penetrating pain relief magic in 30 minutes or less!

My whole body hurts! Can I just bathe in Battle Balm®?
Well, if your whole body hurts, you may have some systemic issue that may be causing inflammation. We recommend looking into your nutrition first and consulting your physician.
But if you just did 8000 burpees the day before, that's a different story. Battle Balm can help with DOMS, but we don't recommend bathing or overuse of our products.
We do NOT recommend more than 2-3 applications of Battle Balm per day. Even though Battle Balm is natural, it is still potent! Use wisely and consult your physician if necessary!
